Ask anyone who knows me, they will tell you how crazy I am about the TV show Glee. It goes beyond just a weekly program for me.

I am obsessed.

The standout, Lea Michele, also happens to be a style star with fabulous taste to match her phenomenal voice.

See where I already drooled over her HERE and HERE. I just adore what she wears!

At the Glee premier she looked lovely in a flowing floral wrap dress and new bangs for a fresh spring look.

These are more of my favorites from last year. Her casual dresses and day clothes tend to be a bit edgier. SO good!

I really missed the boat on getting an amazing pair of light brown, ankle cowboy boots by Guess. I know, I know. Grand faute!! They would have gone with everything!

This Winter I became lipstick obsessed. Oddly enough I use to wear a Clinique, creamy natural color throughout high school. Slowly, I just sort of forgot about it and became gloss only. But I'm gladly back on the lipstick boat and I plan to ride it throughout the whole year.

I fell back in love over my favorite color, purple. It just seemed to match everything I wore in winter. I could snap even the most tired plaid into something edgy and fresh feeling. Plus all I had to put on my eyes was heavy mascara. Such a fast, pulled together look!

I love wearing it with all my nude lace as well! Ashley wears a more burgundy color but it has the same effect.

For spring I am excited to get a berry stained, rose color. It will be perfect with soft hair, spring florals, and contrasting jackets.

Summer will be a mix of a matte fuchsia and matte blush pink. MAC's Snob is a wonderful chalky pink that looks chic and complimentary to almost any outfit. I just love it for summer because it's fun and light.

If you have the right ensemble/complexion for Orange then you should rock it this summer as well. So fresh and sporty! Use Prada as your guide:

Ever since the Christian Dior Haute Couture FW 09/10 show I've wanted to wear my lingerie as outside garments.

*Actually, I've always ~~collected~~ obsessed over vintage slips. But now I want the corsets, tap shorts and garters too!*

Last year I went to a great vintage store and bought myself a lovely high waisted, white pair of tap shorts with a scalloped hem and two tiny side buttons. They fall in just the right way so that they are flowing away from me a bit like a skirt. I love them but for some reason have yet to wear them. ( I think it's because I really wanted a dusty rose or blush color and these turn out to be very see through; tights are a must.)

Here is Byrdie Bell in a vintage girdle that she wears as a skirt.

Also, I just saw that Rumi has the coolest pair of tights ever! I love a garter as much as the next 40's fanatic and these tights allow you to wear one without actually doing so. Which for anyone who has ever worn a garter knows that this is an AMAZING idea!

These Lanvin ads for S/S 09 are soooo luscious. The rich jewel tones and gorgeous Parisienne apartment make me dream of les lèvres rouges, fabulous parties, and chilly nights under La Tour Eiffel.

Also, there is Mr. Meisel's theme of mirrors and reflections, which of course is a beautiful way to display lovely draping and the sensual fabric of the dresses. As well as tell an interesting story about our narcissistic culture.

But to be honest, if I was wearing Lanvin, I wouldn't be able to stop looking at myself either. *Secret: those shoes bring me to tears.*

Please please please someday let me find a vintage Lanvin somewhere and be able to make it mine!

It was last week when I decided I was in dire need of some brown Spectator shoes.

I didn't want to buy a pair from Steve Madden since they are not only pricey but I have already seen them on many people around town.

My love for vintage drew me to look at my amazing local vintage store and I ran into these.

Although they are not exactly the classic Spectators and they are not all brown, I really adore them. Since they are Cole Haan, I know they are quality and they Croc imprinted leather is divine.

Plus they cost only $15! I know, I can't believe it either. Such a perfect find! I love when the items I want just come to me. Must be good vintage Karma!

Rachel Roy has designed a coat that not only rocks my world with its edgy yet feminine features, but it can be worn four ways. Yep. FOUR!

It's called the Transfourmer Coat and it does just that. It can be a full coat, a cropped motorcycle style jacket, a sleeveless vest coat, or just a vest. Simply Genius!

It also comes in a deep aubergine color! I love the motorcycle style on top with the short, fuller skirted bottom. A perfect balance of edgy and girlie. And the best part of all is its only $198! I know, I can't believe it either.

The Future of Women's Fashion

We attended the panel discussion of the Future of Women's Fashion with the Washington Post's Pulitzer Prize-winning fashion writer Robin Givhan, designers Isaac Mizrahi and Ashley Olsen, with Glamour's EIC Cindi Leive as moderator.

As I was waiting for Christine to arrive I spotted Ashley's BF Justin Bartha strolling casually in with everyone else to take his seat in the audience. Turns out he was sitting just across the isle from us. And so was Mary-Kate who joined him (from backstage) with a hug shortly before the lecture started. I thought it was beyond sweet they came to support Ashley and that they both just sat in the middle of the audience.

It was quite an interesting discussion; I was delighted by Issac Mizrahi's humour and Ashley's modesty. Robin Givhan and Cindi Leive both impressed me with their insight and wit. They covered all topics from Ashley's opinion that "value is skewed" and Issac's profound "Fashion happens but design is eternal." Robin commented on Michelle Obama as unlocking a place in fashion for women over 40 who may have felt left out and Issac felt her style was more a reflection of women today rather than trend setting.
I was really impressed by Robin's answer to the question about why people are so offended by a $25,000 dress. Saying that it doesn't negate the fact that there are also great $25 dresses out there, she also commented that it's easy to hate the fashion industry. And because it's a female dominated industry it becomes an easy target. She made the perfect correlation to a man buying $25,000 football season tickets; society's reaction is very different.
Ashley discussed her lines The Row and Elizabeth and James which I both adore. When asked whether her time was split equally between designing on her own or working with her teams she responded that it was, but she was always with her sister; she was her #1 partner.

(I was mesmerized by MK's gorgeous jacket & Ashley's dress/jacket/ shoes combo was feminine and perfect)

The discussion ended with the topic of style. Issac put it best when he said that the people who truly have style love each garment, have a history with it. They will wake up and want to try it with something new, reworking it every time. That's style; to be able to create with and think about the clothes that you love. I couldn't agree more.

40s Glamour

So often I find myself drawn to lux textures and glamorous fabrics. I love to wear them all the time and would. Except that sometimes I hesitate, thinking I have no where to go.

Then I stop, shake my head, and put on my white rabbit fur vest to go to work at my extremely casual office. Because I remember that glamour cannot be saved for later. It cannot be horded away like the last piece of your favorite dessert. It must be celebrated!

Because, let's face it, every day can be special. And no matter what we think we are saving anything for, we must always take risks and go full fabulous force.
Life is happening now, not later.

I've always been a lover of vintage jewelry. In fact, I just have a very strong side of me that is pure glamour grandma. I am always clipping a cameo on a pair of shorts, pining a scarf, wearing lots of pearls over t-shirts, or loads of sparkly costume jewels with random bangles.

Lately, I've seen people sporting sparkles and in the most fabulous way!

Leighton Meester rocked the Emmys for 3 reasons:

1. Her Bottega Veneta dress is graceful and light yet with her dark stained lips and attitude it seems edgy all the same
2. It seems perfectly age appropriate on her and I love that. She looks so fresh. Even her hair is youthful, pulled back messily yet still so romantic.

An all time fav of mine and since she just got married this weekend to Ben Gibbard, the man behind the dreamy vocals of Death Cab For Cutie, I thought it appropriate to profile her.

She is the #1 Indie Princess and her dramatics are to die for. I leave every film wishing I was in my own Zooey like world, romancing with artistic boys and batting my saucer eyes while we frolic through scenes to a perfectly selected soundtrack.

Delicate and fabulously quirky, she always seems like she knows something we don't about love. And well, she probably does. On film her clothes are always cute and continuously feminine, no matter the character. (Did you see 500 Days of Summer?!)

She is also a gifted songstress. Her music is just as sweet and interesting as she is and yes, if you listen with your ipod in while out and about you will feel like you're in your own indie rom-com.

Her personal style is notably just as feminine and always covet worthy. From a darling dress to soft, chic ensembles, this indie princess gets it right. Always.

The best part about her is that aside from her perfect style, gorgeous looks, and just the right amount of endearing charm, she is really smart and funny. Every interview I see with her makes me love her more. She is genuine and that will always shine brightest and always keep me as a fan.

InStyle/ Moschino Party

Last night we went to the Moschino/InStyle party at the Moschino store in the Meatpacking district. White wine and spiked lemonade was being served. People milled around, handling the new Fall garments and exclaiming over the chic bags. But I found the store decor itself to be the most fun part of the evening.

There were adorable clusters of heart lights hanging low, peppering the ceiling and hearts engraved in the floor.

Check out the cute seat, shaped like a handbag :)

What really caught my eye was this black sued, ruffled wedge.

It's hard to see the detailing but they are soooo perfect for winter. Very retro feminine with a funky twist. I can see myself wearing them with a high-waisted tulip skirt and colored tights or liquid leggings with a studded tunic.

I am so sad to report that I have made a grand mistake. I missed out on attending the Barneys book signing for Scott Schuman aka The Satorialist.

Of course the lovely Garance Doré was there, along with some other fashion leaders like the fierce Anna Dello Russo (fashion director of Vogue Nippon)

and the breathtaking Giovanna Battaglia (fashion editor at L'Uomo Vogue, stylist, and former model)

Despair! Why, fates? Why?!!? I knew it was happening, yet in the midst of the commotion I dropped the ball! Christine understands, she's who reminded me of our horror this morning.

BIG Sigh.

All I can do is purchase his wonderful first book and dreamily flip through the pages, vowing to never miss a chance to meet my heros in person again.

A Fashion Halloween

The night was like Halloween, a fashion Halloween. So well put by my darling friend (and fellow blogger) Christine. The air was crisp, the wind was strong, and everyone was dressed up in their fashion best.
We started the night at Bergdorf and found ourselves in a line abuzz with talk of Victoria Beckham just leaving. Zac Posen had painted (while in the window display) the most gorgeous dresses ever! I am so sad I missed it, I've adored his dreamy designs since the beginning.
Once inside our presence was graced by the oh so lovely and freckled Caroline Trentini.
We were shuffled along in the crowd to see none other than Marchesa's Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig. Both stunning as they signed the night's signature T-shirt.
Rachel Zoe was also there with her husband, who was chatting with Mr. Georgina Chapman also known as Harvey Weinstein.

Christine snapped this cute Rachel Zoe picture who I must say is TINY.

We turned the corner to find Andre Leon Talley contucting a human board game with Donna Karan and friends. Emily Rossum watched on as Mr. Talley shouted questions from his fur covered throne.

It was all totally surreal and when P. Diddy walked next to me all I could utter was "Hiii".

We went upstairs to check out the shoes and I drooled over these luscious Louboutins
We needed to get over to Barneys, as the night was flying by and we didn't want to miss the festivity there.
There, we encountered Simon Doonan (the creative director) in the middle of a raffle.

Then I went on my quest to find my beloved Mary-Kate and Ashley. They were in the Men's department promoting their men's line for The Row.

The crowd was intense, it's ridiculous how famous they are.

After waiting they finally came out and people went crazy. Pictures were snapping, teens were shouting, and everyone was pushing.
To my luck, the girls ended up at a table right next to me! After much commotion Ashley finally hushed the crowd and proceed to offer everyone drinks and tell them "just hang out and chill."

So after I sighed and swooned, Christine and I decided to mosey on our way. As we were leaving we ran into Hana Soukupova towing over us as she also left and Christine exchanged words with her fav Simon Doonan. (posing cute with his bag)

On Madison we went to the Donna Karan store to see my fav ginger model Coco Rocha doing Irish Step dancing and teaching a lucky few. Donna Karan looked as chic as ever, hanging out with the large crowd.
The night overall was loads of fun and definitely not lacking in style. We saw various models and socialites, including the bean pole thin and utterly stunning Lauren Santo Domingo at Tod's. Chrisitne and I spotted our fashion stars left and right, but my highlight is of course MKA.
The night was fabulous although I can't say that many people were actually purchasing clothing, which was the intended goal. But the other goal was to "Make fashion fun again," that goal was far exceeded.

Fashion's Night Out

Tomorrow is the first ever Fashion's Night Out!

It marks the beginning of a new era, where designers try to become more available to the public and really make fashion about the masses instead of the elite few. Although I don't expect much to change in any way, I do thinks it's a nice way to bring people together.

Anna Wintour spoke about this event in "hush hush" terms when I saw her lecture at the 92Y last May. I remember her saying the CFDA partnered with the city, but it's actually a global event.

Created to help stimulate the economy through shopping, all of the designers will be out and about the city promoting. There will be signings, customized t-shits, and special fashion shows. It's a veritable fashion carnival for us addicts who worship at the alter of Chanel and YSL.

So be sure to get out there, shop all over NY, and chat with your favorite designers. As for me...you can find me running around, hoping (trying) to see Mary-Kate and Ashley in person ;D

Girl Talk

We went to the Brooklyn Pool Party to see Girl Talk a couple weekends ago. It was such a perfect summer day, the place was packed.

People were blowing huge bubbles and creating their own personal Chucks. (wish I could be a girl in a bubble)

The beer garden was overflowing and hipsters were lining up around the block to get into this fabulous free concert. Just as Girl Talk started to get really good, the clouds began to roll over...

And in the midst of the biggest dance party of the summer, it started to rain!

SO. MUCH. FUN.

My best friend came to visit (finally!) and we had a wonderful time. I was once again reminded of how truly sharp her eye for style is. We have decidedly different tastes and totally different personal style, but the core of what we find chic is identical.

She loves to dress up her clean lines with lots of unique jewelry. Her taste in accessories is impeccable and always right.

She is the best person to get style advice from, she truly gets it.

Plus, she is the one other person as obsessed with Mary-Kate and Ashley as I am!

She will forever be the Ashley to my Mary-Kate.

Tangerine, Tangerine, Living reflection of a dream

I found this silk romper in a consignment shop near my apartment and immediately loved it; the pockets, the comfort, the way it drapes. It wasn't until I put it on one morning that I realized the bright tangerine color made it slightly resemble a prison jumpsuit.

I, of course, was not deterred and decided to just wear it with lace. The milk maid braids also help.

Polish Pretzels

I've wanted to go to Poland for a long time. My grandparents are both from Warsaw and after miraculously surviving the Holocaust, ended up being sponsored and moving to the USA.

And so I'm American.

But in a different life I might have been living in Krakow, sipping a coffee in the local cafe, walking along the lovely river at sunset. It’s the one city that wasn’t destroyed in WW2 and its old Eastern European charm is enthralling.

The sky and clouds in this city were breathtaking; I could stop snapping photographs of its beauty against the medieval structure of the prince’s castle.

The architecture was enchanting, in a way that transports you back in time as you stroll over clean cobble stone streets that twist and turn, all directing you to a splendid city square. It was full of delightful restaurant and cafes, art and music.

I saw two wedding photo sessions, look how chic they are! Oh I adore summer weddings!

Back to My Roots

Warsaw is different than I expected. It was completely destroyed by WW2 and rebuilt under communism. As a city I thought it would be grey and brown, ugly block buildings with small windows. That the city itself would be bland, with nothing to do but historical tours.

I was very wrong.

It is a thriving city and the capital of the country. Although the city was completely rebuilt they tried to recreate the original landmarks and old eastern European feel.

It has cute cafes and many Amber shops (the country's gem)

There is a large, lush park with ponds and chateaus. This is my dream home, with gorgeous French style influences situated in the middle of a lovely river; it came complete with a peacock.

There were horses and buggies and cats in window sills.

We went to the only active Synagogue and one of the only left standing (and restored) in the city. The light was spellbinding.

Polish food is traditional but delicious and I found the people to be just genuinely kind. I truly enjoyed Warsaw and would definitely go back.

London Calling

London is a fascinating city. With its charming old architecture and utterly English gardens, I always feel dapper and sophisticated when I'm there.

I was visiting my lovely college roommate who now lives near Kings Road and we had a marvelous time. And although my weekend was much to short, I enjoyed it all the same.

One thing I noticed about British fashion is that it's very mixed but always sophisticated. From vintage to punk to proper, the people here follow through with every style.

London is so genulinly dapper and clean, even the not so nice parts seem nice. It's all in the charming architecture and lovely old buildings. Even the lamp posts bring you back to the time of Mary Poppins.
This fall you'll find me in tweeds and houndstooth, cute oxfords and proper driving gloves.
